Multimodal Biometrics using ECG and Fingerprint

The Biometric recognition is an important parameter used for Human Identification and Verification. There are already various Biometrics available in today’s world, but not all of them are used commercially. The most widely used Biometrics is also prone to errors and can cause falsification. This paves way for a need of novel Biometric Recognition. A new approach in Human Identification & verification, based on Electrocardiography (ECG) along w i t h Fingerprint is proposed. The effectiveness of a novel multimodal biometric system that is resulted from the fusion of the electrocardiogram (ECG) with Fingerprint which is known to be a least obtrusive for efficient individual authentication is studied. The unimodal system of biometrics is neither secured nor they can achieve the optimum performance. However using the two different modalities of biometrics o f fer advantage for user authentication.
